چکیده
Abstract A near-real-time computerized ionospheric tomography (CIT) technique was developed over the East Asian sector to specify 3-D electron density field. The is based on a plethora of Global Navigation Satellite System observables within region interest which bounded horizontally 110°–160°E and 10°–60°N extending from 80 25,000 km in altitude. Prior deployment, studies validated CIT results using ionosonde, middle-upper atmosphere radar occultation data found adequately reconstruct regional ionosphere vertical structure. However, with room for improvement estimating peak height avoiding physically unrealistic negative densities final solution, we present preliminary that addresses these issues by incorporating into assimilation (DA) technique. DA adds ionosonde bottomside measurements results, thereby improving accuracy reconstructed More specifically, average NmF2 hmF2 improve more than 60%. Further, during analysis, are assumed be better described probability log-normal distribution, introduces positivity constraint mandatory imaging.

This article examines the application of the new system to the field of computerized ionospheric tomography. (
متن کاملBayesian statistical ionospheric tomography improved by incorporating ionosonde measurements
We validate two-dimensional ionospheric tomography reconstructions against EISCAT incoherent scatter radar measurements. Our tomography method is based on Bayesian statistical inversion with prior distribution given by its mean and covariance. We employ ionosonde measurements for the choice of the prior mean and covariance parameters and use the Gaussian Markov random fields as a sparse matrix ...
متن کاملIonospheric Sounding and Tomography by GNSS
Studies of the ionosphere and the physics of the ionospheric processes rely on the knowledge of spatial distribution of the ionospheric plasma. Being the propagation medium for radio waves, the ionosphere significantly affects the performance of various navigation, location, and communication systems. Therefore, investigation into the structure of the ionosphere is of interest for many practica...
متن کاملTomographic reconstruction of ionospheric electron density during the storm of 5-6 August 2011 using multi-source data
The insufficiency of data is the essential reason for ill-posed problem existed in computerized ionospheric tomography (CIT) technique. Therefore, the method of integrating multi-source data is proposed. Currently, the multiple satellite navigation systems and various ionospheric observing instruments provide abundant data which can be employed to reconstruct ionospheric electron density (IED)....
